Refund Policy
Overview
We provide instant-access digital vehicle reports generated using official and third-party data sources available at the time of purchase.
Because reports are delivered immediately and tailored to a specific vehicle registration, they are classed as digital content under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
This policy explains when refunds may be issued.
Your Consumer Rights (UK Law)
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be:
- as described
- fit for purpose
- of satisfactory quality
Where digital content is supplied immediately, consumers lose the automatic right to cancel once delivery has begun, provided they have consented to immediate delivery.
By purchasing a vehicle report, you acknowledge that:
- the report is generated instantly
- delivery begins immediately after purchase
- the statutory right to cancel does not apply once delivery has started
However, this does not affect your rights if the digital content is faulty or not provided as described.
Automatic Refunds - No Data Reports
If you use a credit to generate a report and no meaningful vehicle history data is returned, the report will be classified as a No Data Report.
A No Data Report typically means no records were found across key sections such as:
- mileage or odometer history
- MOT history
- ownership or registration events
- risk indicators (where applicable)
In these cases:
- Your credit will be automatically refunded
- The refund is processed instantly
- The credit can be used immediately for another check
Refund Requests for Faulty Digital Content
You may request a refund if the report:
- contains clear factual errors due to a technical fault
- was not delivered or could not be accessed
- failed to generate correctly
Refund requests must be submitted within 7 days of the report being generated.
To request a refund, please contact support@vrmcheck.co.uk with:
- the vehicle registration number
- the purchase date
- a brief explanation of the issue
We aim to respond to all refund requests within 1 business day.
Refund Method
- Refunds are issued as account credits by default
- In some cases, and at our discretion, refunds may be returned to the original payment method
- Card refunds are manual and subject to review
Important Clarifications
The following do not qualify for a refund:
- reports that contain valid data, even if no issues are found
- reports confirming a vehicle has a clean history
- dissatisfaction with the results of a report where the data is accurate
- changes to vehicle data occurring after the report was generated
Vehicle reports are snapshots of available data at the time of purchase and do not update automatically.
Fair Use & Abuse Prevention
We reserve the right to refuse refunds where:
- repeated refund requests indicate misuse of the service
- the report has been accessed or downloaded extensively, except where a verified technical fault exists
Summary
- Vehicle reports are instant digital content
- No automatic right to cancel once delivery begins
- Refunds are available for faulty or undelivered reports
- No-data reports are refunded automatically
- Refund requests must be made within 7 days
This policy does not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
